BHTA Approved - Retailers You Can Trust

Buying any mobility product, particularly for the first time, can be a daunting prospect. How can you be sure you’re getting the right product, for the right price? There’s a huge amount of choice and for anyone who is unfamiliar with the wealth of options may struggle to know where to start. Combine that with a number of retailers, some of whom are online only, and different prices across the spectrum and it can become a bit of a minefield to navigate.

Fortunately the mobility industry does have a governing body (of whom we are very proud to be a member!) that gives you peace of mind and protection when purchasing something new. It’s always worth spending the time looking for retailers who are BHTA approved to make sure you’re protected, and the retailer is following a strict code of practice. It’s not just about protecting your purse either, the nature of mobility equipment means that it’s important to make sure what you are buying is right for you, otherwise it could prove un-safe, and even damaging to your health. Having said that, if the price seems to good to be true, it probably is! Good quality manufacturing, materials and aftercare do come at a price, but it does mean you can be sure not to cause yourself any unnecessary stress or injury with products not working as they should.

The BHTA offer a great article about buying safely, see the link below for further information. Remember if you are ever unsure about a purchase please give the retailer a call. Good practice means that any approved retailer should be sufficiently trained to be able to both advise and assess your needs as required. You should never feel pressured into a purchase.
